You may have noticed a checkbox in application modeller called 'Restrict to non-invasive automation techniques'. This is ticked by default, and unticking it enables 'hooking' when the business object launches the application. It's very rarely needed (I've maybe used it twice in 12+ years) but may be worth a shot on your application. Search for 'hooking' in the Help for more details.
