unable to send mail messages in blueprism

Hi Team,

While I am trying to send message by using "send message" activity , I am getting below error,

Internal : Could not execute code stage because exception thrown by code stage: The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.0 Authentication Required. Learn more at

kindly suggest me how to resolve the issue. Thanks in advance.

Hi Hari,
First run configure SMTP then run send email. Make sure you give correct parameters for the configure SMTP.

I Have run the configuration action first. and 1 month back same process was ran successfully but now its throwing error.

I hope those screenshots don't contain actual username/password info for an account you care about. 😬 If they do, you want to remove them and resubmit with the sensitive information redacted.

Hi @Haribp

Did you configure this Gmail account to accept connections for external sites?

You must to enable this option in the account. Here you have a link of how to do this: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7104828?hl=en

I have also found interesting this Stack Overflow article for this error, check it if the solution of enabling the POP3 and SMTP settings didn't works: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/20906077/gmail-error-the-smtp-server-requires-a-secure-connection-or-the-client-was-not

Thanks for the information. It was really helpful.

Setting up POP server in Gmail was successful.

Later I had received the same error message. The issue was due to email client server.

Email sending,

To send emails using the Gmail server enter these details:

SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com
SMTP Port: 587
Encryption: TLS
SMTP Username: (your Gmail username)
SMTP Password: (you need to use a Google App Password, not your Gmail password!)

Then I was able to execute it successfully.

Hope this may help for the beginner.
