Active accessibility mode not working in google chrome

We are using Blueprism v6.4. AA mode spying does not seem to work in google chrome. We triedÂ â€“force-renderer-accessibility but that also doesn't work. Let us know if you have any solutions.

It's possible that Blue Prism attached to an incorrect instance of Chrome. Make sure you also launch it withÂ â€“process-per-site . As long as you only have one tab open, this should keep it to one process.

Hi,

Append the start page URL with the --forcerenderer-accessibility parameter to open the browsers in accessibility mode.
When launched using this parameter, the UIA spy mode can be used to model and interact with Chrome.

@AmiBarrett - I am also facing same issue, BP doesn't show up accessibility mode, We have just one tab open. I also referred chrome automation guide where it has some details on --force-renderer-accessibility. https://portal.blueprism.com/system/files/documents/v6.9%20User%20Guide%20-%20Native%20Chrome%2C%20Edge%2C%20and%20Firefox%20Integration_2.pdf. However this option is mentioned only for UIA mode.

Kindly suggest if accessibility mode works with Chrome?

When working with IE, it shows 5 modes (HTML, Window, UI, Accessibility, Region) but with chrome only 4 modes (HTML, Window, UI, Region)

I just verified that I was able to get AA mode working in Chrome, but only using a Win32 model, and not as a Chrome/Browser Application model.

I have no official answer to that, but my purely hypothetical guess, is that this was as-intended due to Accessibility not being enabled by default in Chrome.

Got a response back from the Product team. The short of it is that while it's been internally acknowledged, it's unclear if all browsers that share the Application Model type of Browser (Chrome/Edge/Firefox) support AA. They would need to do some R&D to explore before saying officially if it's a feasible implementation.

It was also mentioned that in order to be integrated with the product, this would need to be raised as an enhancement request on our ideas portal. Doing so will allow them to better track the importance of integration from the user base.

I've always assumed it was intended that AA was removed for Chrome/Firefox/Edge automation. If we do suggest this in the ideas portal, I'll vote it up. I won't post it myself in case one of you are doing it. Please link here if any of you post it. If we got AA in non-IE browser automation, it would actually be a significant boost to functionality since AA quite often has more detailed selectors available compared to UIA as well as it being faster in many cases.

Now if we can just get Match Reverse across all browsers and across all spy modes. 😉

I have occasionally seen where a reboot will resolve this, but I do not know a consistent root cause.

One of my colleagues was facing similar issue where AA was not appearing as a mode in chrome. So, I suggested the above method to her. And now she gets the AA mode, but still nothing inside the webpage is getting identified by AA. Only outside the webpage, like the URL bar (in chrome), it is able to indentify.

Can you please guide?

In case of AA mode issue existing on a specific machine, re-registering the OLEACC.DLL can also be tried. I found this solution on BP portal while searching for AA mode troubleshooting measures. I have saved this information in a word document for ready reference. Attaching the same here.

Provided Chrome was launched with the --force-renderer-accessibility flag, it should enable AA content within the browser pane. The behaviour you're describing sounds as though it was not.
