If you read the release notes, you should find some of the answers you are looking for there.
I personally only handle fresh installations of 4.2 and 5.0. We haven't yet done an upgrade plan for our customers who are on 4.2 yet. So unfortunately can't share an experience with you. Perhaps someone else can, but I would definitely look at the release notes.

Hi,
As I am researching impact of our v 4.2 to v 5.0, I would like to get some insight on the process.
Would a version upgrade transfer all processes/objects and run-environment (robots, schedules etc.) with between versions?
Are there any risks that should be considered before doing so?
Is there any specific element of 4.2 that will need to be transferred manually?
