Blue Prism V6.4 MS Outlook VBO

Hi Community,

i am testing the BP V6.4 and wanted to use the new MS Outlook VBO. Unfortunately it only works if Outlook is already open. We have the same issue with our current Version (V5.0.23 -MAPIEx). But actually it should work without opening Outlook, am i right? Has anyone a solution for this behaviour?

If I remember right, it was recommended that Outlook be open while using MAPIEx but it did work with Outlook closed. As far as I know, there should be no need to have Outlook open before using the MS Outlook Email VBO. I have never needed to have it open first. I think about the only problem I've run into is that emails will periodically get stuck in the outbox. Because of that, I typically do not send mail with the VBO, only receive with it.

Are you getting some kind of error?

On this note, it may also help to change your send/receive settings in Outlook. I'm attaching an image of the items to check/change. Make sure all of these boxes are checked, and set the frequency to something more reasonable than 30 minutes. (I've used 1-2 minutes on production VMs before.)

Outside of this, we have had no issue with needing Outlook open. You may want to double-check that Programmatic Access is enabled in Outlook's trust center. (This may require elevated permissions to set once, then you can run it as a standard user after.)

Thank you for your response. Yes i get an error message. See the attached screenshot.
The funny thing is that the old MAPIEx in V5 works as it should with the same Outlook Profile settings.
