We are working with a Java application. We have to launch it from one VBO using Windows mode and then attach to the actual application using a different VBO in Java Mode - in order to continue and spy the java elements. We are running into issues with spying certain elements such as dropdown boxes - they appear as one block. Because of first launching in Windows mode we can not use the "decendtree" instruction in the last field in the Application Wizard set-up when we launch - including it disables all spying. We suspect not having this, is prohibiting us from spying all the elements. Any advice for this set-up? We have consulted the Java Automation Guide.

------------------------------
Stephanie Strydom
------------------------------
Hi Stephanie,

I would recommend a blended approach of using Java spying where possible and using Surface Automation where there are instances like this.

Java spy mode represents what can be the quickest method and the most robust. However, I've used Surface Automation with Java applications to great effect when navigating trickier elements.

Are you on a more recent version (6.4+0)?

Regards

------------------------------
Ben Lyons
Product Consultant
Blue Prism
UK
------------------------------
I used Google's Access Bridge Explorer before to view element tree and create some elements manually in blueprism according to its output. It is also much faster if element tree is huge (it wont read it all in that case)

------------------------------
Andrey Kudinov
Project Manager
MobileTelesystems PJSC
Europe/Moscow
------------------------------
