Add and Remove Line Space in Word document

I am using the Word VBO to write documents from templates and at some places in the Word document I delete certain lines of text; I then need to remove the empty line this leaves behind. I can't see an action in the Word VBO to do this.

I also type in paragraphs of text; I then need to add an empty line, for formatting. I can't see an action in the Word VBO to do this either.

Is there a way anyone has found to do either/both of the above?
