In this case, I found that changing the month up and back caused the calendar dropdown to stay open. This was not a BP issue, more of a Java app issue. The problem is that while I can spy the dropdown to display the calendar, as soon as I go back to the app modeler and click Identify to spy the actual calendar, the dropdown collapses and the calendar disappears.
