There was an Error During Spying Operation - Edge

I am developing my first Edge automation. Blue Prism extension is already enabled.

I am trying to attach to attach to already launched website. When I click on Attach on Application Modeller, instead of attaching, it will launch the website again. Then when I click on Identify button, error appears as "There was an error during spying operation". When I try to close the UI and attach again, it will again launch a new website, for a second Identify button will appear and it will switch back to attach again.

close all application , reset the object , open application modeller and see if its showing launch or attach, if its showing launch then it means that you have setup the application modeller to launch the browser

while setting up the application modeller you have to select "A browser which is already running"

I did as you have said. Application Modeller shows as Attach. I then opened the website manually. Once its completely loaded, I clicked Attach button on Application Modeller. It again went ahead and launched the website though it was already opened. Once the website launched by Application Modeller is opened, Identify button changed back to attach within a second and its keep repeating whenever I attempt to attach back.

can you please share the application modeller screenshot (same like attached screenshot), probably what i am thinking is its not identify the target application.

actual issue here is , you have entered e-Referral Service as title of target application and also you have specified the internet explore exe path ,

its not identifying that window title , and due to that its launching the browser , you have to remove the path from browser textbox , and try to attach if identify it will attach else it will give you the error.

when you are launching browser manually , that time what is the title of that page , and entered that title in application and test it

Oh my god such a silly mistake. I removed the executable path and try to attach and now it seems literally trying to attach to the website. However, its not identifying the window title.

next verification, can you please click on application wizard , click on next , and see here which broswer mode you have selected .

i created the new object and its working fine for me, can you please try creating new object ,

what i am thinking is , initially you might have selected Internet Explorer because when its did not identify the target window that time you got IE related pop up error, for me i am getting different error if its not identifying the window.

my suggestion is , try creating all new object with all correct steps.

i entered incorrect window title and tested and i got this error message

Try using an Attach (Navigate) stage instead. Application Modeller does some weird things that were obviously implemented as a means of doing demos, such as that it'll launch the app if it can't find it already which has never made sense for anything but a demo.

When you use the Attach stage, you can provide the process name "msedge" and also the window title.

It is also always helpful to mention what version of Blue Prism you're on as this can make a difference. And if you have never automated Edge or Chrome before, there are some significant differences such as the ability to use XPath expressions and CSS Selectors, depending on what version of BP you're on so it will be worth your doing some training on that to make your transition to Edge easier.
