Hi Michael,

You can run the Blue Prism Learning Edition on a local database. In this scenario, the error usually indicates that the database file is missing, corrupted, or an incorrect instance.
Since the same installation works on different machine, have you tried to reinstall the SQL Server 2022 LocalDB and Blue Learning Edition on the machine that having this issue. Thanks.

Hello All,

I'm looking for some help with an issue installing the BluePrism learning edition on a particular machine.

We've been attempting to install a learning edition version of BluePrism onto the local machine of one our colleagues to start some training. However, the install is failing due to an issue that appears to be to do with the SQL, and despite multiple full reinstalls of both BluePrism and the SQL server our colleague has been unable to launch BluePrism.

These are the comments from his most recent attempt and the results:

I uninstalled the SQL server, re-opened BluePrism which allowed me to create a login (admin then a password)

It then runs a command prompt and flashes repeatedly with the path at the top being:

C:\Progam Files\Microsoft SQL Server\160\Shared\SQLDUMPER.EXE

on screen, it flashes up saying "CreateFile failed to open path: .GetLastError: 3 WerReportAddFile SQLDumpFile failed, SQLDumpFileName: , error 0x8007007B"

Eventually, it gives me this error.

mcurtis_1-1786458545318.png
Hope that someone will be able to help us figure out what's not working.

Thanks very much.

We have a Knowledge Base article about this "Unable to determine whether database exists - a network-related or instance-specific error occurred" error that can be thrown when installing/configuring a new BPE environment:

BPE error "Unable to determine whether database exists - a network-related or instance-specific error occurred" displayed after clicking 'Test Connection' button

I'd suggest to work through the SQL-related suggestions as a first step and report back on the results here.

Hello Steven,

Apologies for the delay and thank you for having a look at this.

We can confirm that the SQL service is set to automatic as per step 3 in the article. However, the other steps don't seem to be as related to the training module. SQL Server Management Studio 2012 isn't included in that install, only SQL Server 2022 LocalDB.

In any case, we've tried the install on a few other machines and it's worked fine without the full SQL Server Management Studio software installed.

Is there anything else that it could be related to?

Thanks again,

Michael

Hello Wittawat,

Thanks for responding. We have attempted a full reinstall of both and no change.
Are there any settings we should check that could be interfering with the connection to the database file?

Thanks again,

Michael
