Hi Sam,

The context is not pretty much clear that where you actually you found such an expression. But just looking at it, it seems that we are trying to enforce some kind of a logic to check the presence of '*' around the current date field out of the entire timestamp field. Also, two times here * is used so that it can be escaped

Suppose you have a date like *10-10-2020 * 8:35:00, then here to identify the character '*' , the expression seems to be that way.

For more details, would request you shed more light on the context where this expression is being used.

------------------------------
----------------------------------
Hope it helps you out and if my solution resolves your query, then please mark it as the 'Best Answer' so that the others members in the community having similar problem statement can track the answer easily in future

Regards,
Devneet Mohanty
Intelligent Process Automation Consultant | Sr. Consultant - Automation Developer,
Wonderbotz India Pvt.
