    Posted 06-05-2023 11:07

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making significant strides in reshaping the way we work and live. Today, I want to spark a discussion about AI specifically in the context of Intelligent Automation 🤖.

So, what are your thoughts on AI in Intelligent Automation 🤔🤔?

Just a few questions to get the conversation started:

    ---

    1. How do you perceive the impact of AI in automating tasks within various industries?
    2. What are the benefits you see in leveraging AI for Intelligent Automation?
    3. Are there any concerns or challenges you have about the implementation of AI in this context?
    4. Have you witnessed any notable use cases of AI in Intelligent Automation that have impressed you?
    5. How do you envision the future of Intelligent Automation with the continuous advancement of AI?

    ---

Whether you have personal experiences, opinions, or insights to share, your voice matters! Feel free to express your thoughts, raise questions, or provide examples that illustrate the opportunities and challenges surrounding AI in Intelligent Automation. Let's learn from each other and broaden our understanding of this exciting topic.

Don't forget to check out our podcasts section, where we have just uploaded some new podcasts surrounding the fascinating world of AI (thanks @Brad Hairston for these awesome podcasts) >>> ROM Library - Podcasts

Together, we can gain deeper insights into the potential of AI in Intelligent Automation and its impact on our lives and work.

Looking forward to hearing your valuable thoughts!

RPA on its own can deliver efficiencies to any organization, but companies cannot simply cannot establish a trajectory toward true business transformation until they begin augmenting their digital workforce with intelligent skills (AI).  Hundreds of success stories across our customer base have proven this to be true.  Intelligent automation provides a high-performance sports car, but many companies leave it in the garage and continue to drive a tricycle.  Apologies for the bad analogy!  :-)

On the Transform NOW podcast, we have hosted a number of AI experts - CEOs, authors, entrepreneurs, professors, etc.  This has grown my passion for AI and the importance of it to RPA.  No doubt, generative AI will motivate more companies to start leveraging AI in their process automation.  GenAI is a game-changer.  As Lou Bachenheimer (SS&C Blue Prism CTO, Americas) said, recently, "First, our digital workers had hands on keyboards and nothing else, and they could do basic tasks. Then we added in machine learning, and they had hands and a brain. Well, now we've given them a mouth and ears, and it's only going to be more exciting to see as we get them to be more and more parallel to what human workers can do."<o:p></o:p>

There is certainly a lot of angst in society about AI and the possibility of it replacing jobs.  I, for one, do not believe it will replace any human jobs 100%.  I think it will augment human jobs and change our job descriptions.  As AI helps RPA automate more complex business processes, it will continue to free up humans to do higher-value activities but at a faster pace.  When humans do more work that is truly "human" (i.e., relies on our innately human capabilities, such as creativity), they are happier, more fulfilled, and more likely to stick around at a company.  Not a bad thing!

How do you perceive the impact of AI in automating tasks within various industries?

A.I. has a long way to go (it still hasn't migrated from 'software' to 'smart'), but is increasingly adding value in task automation.

What are the benefits you see in leveraging AI for Intelligent Automation?

A.I. is the perfect tool for recognizing trends which humans can't see and presenting them to humans for consideration in the decision making process.  If you jump to A.I. making a decisions then there is significant risk.

Are there any concerns or challenges you have about the implementation of AI in this context?

A.I. is at the early stages of making decisions because the datasets used to train A.I. models are biased and often models hallucinate.

Have you witnessed any notable use cases of AI in Intelligent Automation that have impressed you?

ChatGPT is the most impressive and most disappointing use case (for any text enhancement) I have seen.

How do you envision the future of Intelligent Automation with the continuous advancement of AI?

I see specialized A.I. models developing so fast that enterprise systems won't be able to leverage (embed) them fast enough. As a result, I believe the future of IA is simply to act as a connector (ETL) between A.I. <--> enterprise systems.

Thanks Jesse! I agree about ChatGPT being both a blessing and a curse!
