This week we wanted to do something a little different, we wanted to start a conversation. We want to hear from you 🗣️!

Have you ever wondered what stage you are at in your automation journey? What's stopping you from progressing? What is the next step?

We want to know too, that's why we're asking the question:

Which of the five foundations do you need the most help with?

Why not let the Hub community know the challenges you are facing, the things you are exceeding at (let's celebrate together 🎉), and most importantly how ROM2 can help you in your automation journey?
Other community members may be facing the same dilemmas so let's help each other and share our thoughts & experiences and get discussing now!

This is a great question Ni!! I would love to hear the community's thoughts.

I suppose the 2 questions I get asked the most about is around how do you keep your pipeline healthy once you've exhausted the low hang fruit/quick wins and the other is ensuring that the digital workers are doing their job day to day.

Come let us know your thoughts as it helps us provide the right insights to you in the library.

Why only 5 ROM foundations now? Automation is getting more complex not easier.7-8 foundations that sit across different parts of traditional organisations has worked well for a number of years. Simplifying it seems to make it harder to understand where different elements should fit in ROM2.

    Hi Simon

These are great questions and points.

I just wanted to give a little context on why we have taken the foundations down to 5.

Having received feedback from analysts, customers and partners that the previous ROM was too static, labour intensive, daunting and didn't really allow for growth or the use of other delivery methodologies such as Agile, Six Sigma etc.

We wanted to update the ROM framework so it was more inclusive to all users no matter where they are in their journey. This doesn't mean we have removed any of the previous best practices in fact we've hopefully have made them easier to digest and find. ROM2 is no longer a static framework and we will continue to build and evolve to ensure we are supporting growth.

In order to really support people in their journey we have now extended the content within each foundation and created topics in each foundation to help teams navigate through the challenges they were experiencing when trying to grow.

We are also for the first time providing content on topics we've not previously dealt with in the ROM.

The ROM2 framework isn't the only part of the methodology that has been adapted, we have really enhanced the Maturity Model to give teams a pathway of growth that is tailored to them.

We are providing the guidelines on how to move forward in a way that meets customers needs and what they hope to achieve.

Hopefully that gives a little context behind the reduction of the foundations and shows we are trying to provide more meaningful supporting material and guidance to teams where ever they are on their journey.

Thank you for your questions it's great to get the message out there

Hi Emma, many thanks for your rapid response. I get a better understanding now and I love your slides. I personally would like a separate foundation for Technology and Infrastructure. I see technology details different to Stategy and Vision and requires different people from across the organisation. I split vision and tech in my series of ROM workshops so that would be six foundations. We currently have 8 and it has been this way before Blue Prism created ROM 1. I always consider the foundations based on the roles people have across the organisation and require to be involved in different foundations. Also the new roles to be created and the roles that will be impacted most and where upskilling is required. Automation is all about people.

    Simon,

I love your last observation, "Automation is all about people".  Your observation is key in approaching every kind of digital transformation issue.  I am also very happy that your 8-part methodology is working well for you.  Technology architecture is a huge part of operating any infrastructure that is supporting the transformation program, so the strategy for the IT infrastructure will likely be slightly different than the automation strategy.

I'm glad that you are considering the upskilling of the roles, as they also will likely change over time as you mature and grow as an organization.

So happy you're part of the SS&C Blue Prism community!

    Michael,

As time goes automation becomes more and more about people. Peoples imagination develops, the desire to change how their organisation works.

People create target operating models, people redesign services, people encourage other people to change.

Technology is the enabler and increasingly with Process Mining, Prompt based automation, etc will need less people to do the delivery. This is good because the costs of automation will come down and the efficiency will increase.

Guess what this is good for the people so they can re-skill / upskill quicker into new roles.

The more people again understand the art of the possible for their roles and organisation then with all the new developments automation and AI will truly scale and make a difference.
