BP Edge browser extension no longer working after downloading file via Windows File Explorer window.

Hi BP community,

Since we have upgraded to BP V7.1, we are experiencing an issue with the Blue Prism Edge Chrome browser extension, which appears to loose connection with the browser after a file has been downloaded and saved using the Windows file explorer window.
More specifically, after interacting with the windows file explorer pop-up window, we see that our robots are unable to recognize any of the web elements using the web spy mode. Furthermore, when looking at the console log within the BP browser extension, we see that the extension appears to be still looking for the already closed File Explorer window (see attached screencap).

Can anybody advise us on how we can mitigate this issue?

Currently I have tried two options (1. interact with file explorer using a seperate BP object and 2. interact with file explorer from within the same BP object).

Hi Arthur,

Some questions that might not solve your problem but can be helpful to check:

• Do you have only one BP Chrome extension in Chrome, or two? (one is good, two not so much...)
• Is your BP Chrome extension the most recent version?
• Does your process re-attach to Chrome at the next 'Chrome' action after returning from the file explorer?
• Does your problem also occur when you are 'stepping' the process in Studio? (as opposed to running at full speed in Control Room...)

Thanks for your input!

Currently our situation is as follow:

• We only make use of the Blue Prism Edge browser extension V7.1 (we only work with Edge);
• The current version of the extension that we use is: 7.1.0.59613;
• We do use the attach action, however Edge continues to be attached, so no action is taken;
• The problem also occurs when stepping throught the process.

Do you have any other tips that might help us with overcoming this issue?

Since your problem also occurs when stepping, and you've found the attach to be not needed because it is still attached, I wonder if it still is attached. What happens if you attach once more after the file explorer actions?

You mention to '...interact with file explorer using a separate BP object...', how do you do that today? Surely you already have a separate object for interfacing with the windows stuff? Can you list the steps you use?
