Force Retry of Abruptly Exception Cases / Automatically Set Exception at CleanUp - By code Only

nitin_gerg
Level 2

While running a process on schedule a case was locked in Work Queue and before unlocking/Completing/Exception  of the case the VDI got rebooted or due to any unknown issue the process got terminated and the case was marked as "Automatic Set Exception on Cleanup". In this scenario for now we have force retry the case in Work Queue manually. Can we do it using any blueprism action/custom code which we can implement at process level and avoid any manual intervention to retry the case. Also, we do not want to retry the case at queue level since its only required for these abruptly exceptioned scenarios and no other scenario.

Also,

In ourscenario during running a process case was locked and during tag/status update it was timed out, and the case was exception out with same issue . Usually we do not keep tag update/status update action in block stage to recover resume them.

We need to handle this scenario using code and case should not be exception out due to any time out scenario or such instances. Is there a work around for this too ?

Pls advise.

What version of Blue Prism are you using? At some point (maybe around 7.1?), an option was added to Queue settings called "Retry items in this queue in the event of an unexpected session termination". This may not fully address what you need. It definitely won't help if you're on an older version, but at least you'd be able to use this once you upgrade. Of course your maximum attempts would have to be high enough perhaps. I haven't tested whether this feature flag works regardless of the maximum attempts or not.

I don't have any input for the tag/status issue though because I haven't run into that problem, and I don't know if the setting I mentioned above would or wouldn't apply in that scenario.
