Upgrade to 7.3.2 : Launch Stage taking lot of time in Chrome

Dear Community Members,

We have recently upgraded to BP 7.3.2 from v6.10.5, and we have observed that LAUNCH stage in blueprism is taking lot of time to load and move to next stage when any chrome application is launched.

We have compared the timing of “Launch” stage when launching the sample application in chrome browser between 6.10 & 7.3 as shown below:

BP 6.10.5

BP 7.3.2

Chrome

~10 - 15 seconds

~50 – 70 seconds

Edge

~2 – 3 seconds

~5 – 7 seconds

Anyone have faced similar issues in BP 7 and if yes, how did you resolve it? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. This delay is causing such a huge delay as it’s impacting the process SLA.

@uncki2 I tried looking around for an explanation of this, but I don't see anything. I don't use Chrome much for automation, but I didn't encounter an issue like that when I did 7.3 and 7.3.1 testing. I would open a ticket with Blue Prism Support and see if they can identify the issue.

In the meantime, something you could try is using Start Process to launch Chrome and then attach to it. I think there might be scenarios where this wouldn't work, but it is worth trying since you are having issues right now.

Hi @david.l.morris ,

Thank you again for responding. We are using start process method as an interim.

However, we have 150+ processes, hence not sure if it's feasible to change the launch mechanism for all. Additionally, expectation is that launch stage should behave what it is intended to similar to the way it works in BP 6. 😞

Is there any alternative way in browser extension or the way we launch the URL to fix the issue?

Thank you again in advance.

I would submit a ticket to Blue Prism Support, and they can give you guidance on your specific scenario. It's possible something else is going on. It isn't supposed to do that, and there may be a workaround that they can suggest.

I'm not aware of how to cause the issue, so I don't know where to start suggesting workarounds for it other than using Start Process or switching to Edge.

Hi @david.l.morris ,

Thanks for raising a ticket to BP support. Will wait for your response as per what BP support would suggest.

Regarding migrating to Edge, obviously its not possible given that so many processes are already in BAU.

Hence, would expect BP team to provide certain steps to make the existing logic work or minimal change requred.

Thanks.

@uncki2 Note that I didn't submit a ticket. I can't submit tickets on behalf of someone else. I'm suggesting you could submit a ticket so they suggest ideas, request logs from you, etc and then they may get on a call with you an determine what to do.
