BP Version Upgrade on App Server (2008) + RTR (Win 7)

Hello All,

Current environment details are -
BluePrism Version - 6.5.1
Application Server + Database Server are configured on Windows Server OS 2008
RTR Virtual Machines are configured on Windows 7 (SP1)

We are looking to upgrade the current BP Version from 6.5.1 to BP version 6.10.4.

But we know that both Windows 2008 and Windows 7 are even not supported by Microsoft itself, but due to few constraints we are not able to upgrade our Infrastructure to Win 2016 & Win 10 and currently we are on extended support from MS.

Would it be possible to upgrade the current BP version to 6.10.4 with same Infrastructure (RTR {Win 7} + App Server {Win 2008}) ?

Can someone please share their experience if they are also running the upgraded BP versions on unsupported Windows OS?

Any comment would be really appreciated.

Regards,
Vishal

Hi Vishal,

It may be worthwhile reaching out to Blue Prism Support to see if they can advise you further. A lot of times, Blue Prism would only support the versions of OS that Microsoft currently supports. But that does not necessarily mean that those versions will not run in obsoleted OS.

Thanks Bruce,

I had raised one Ticket with BluePrism Support team as well, response form them is as follows -
"As you can see we don't support windows server 2008 and windows 7 as this not even supported by Microsoft itself, but this doesn't mean that after the upgrade it won't work for you, but it would be difficult for us support if something will go wrong. You could upgrade you lower environment and make sure that it's working fine or not, before doing anything to your production."

I am in confusion state and not able to decide whether we should upgrade BP version on unsupported OS or not?

Regards,
Vishal

Hi Vishal,

To ensure that your operating platform can continously be supported by the vendors, we would recommend you consider OS upgrade as part of your project. It is largely to address security and compliance risks that are currently present in your environment.
