I think you have to change application manager mode from application wizard.
Application Manager Mode screen you will get below

Is your excel application took to much time to open excel file ?
I had facing same issue i just apply exception handling and retry logic for same 3 time and it work for me.

I am still thinking about why you are use java script to select value from dropdown list.
You can use direct AA spy mode or use send key to achieve your goal.
