  • 1.  Ultima IA-Connect vs Blueprism 7.0 CITRIX automation

    Hi All, 

    At present we are using Ultima IA Connect tool for automating the CITRIX hosted applications. 
    I came to know that #blueprism ver. 7 has CITRIX automation functionality similar to #Ultima IA Connect ​. 
    What we have experienced till now with ULTIMA is:
    • Ultima is very fast there is no delay in searching the CITRIX element spied via Ultima.
    • We are able to automate all kind of applications like, JAVA, Web, Windows.
    • All excel, file management and other basic VBOs are provided in package. 
    • Good customer support and many more.
    Is there any comparison or analysis done between both the tools.
    Will we be able to write custom codes which executes at other end, excel actions, file management in BP ver 7 and above.

    Hi @Rahul Vyas,

    I'm not aware of any specific comparison that's been put together. If you're already using Ultima-IA Connect, and it's working as well as you state, why would you be concerned with changing it? As the saying goes: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

    Thanks for the response, Actually I was thinking if we can save Ultima license cost there for the upcoming projects. Anyways we are going to get upgraded to 7.X version by this year, We thought if we can take up new CITRIX projects accordingly.

    @Rahul Vyas,

    I'd say your best bet is to install a copy of the v7 Learning or Trial edition in you dev/test environment. Then create a copy of one of your processes, replace the necessary pieces handled by Ultima, and see how it goes.

    Hi Lakshay, 

    I am still searching for some proper comparison between both. We have a meeting scheduled with blueprism in upcoming week. 
    As far as I know the blue prism 7.X will have CITRIX desktop automation feature but not the XenApp automation(Still need confirmation). This is going to be deciding factor for now.
    Will let you know once I have something more.

    Would you by any chance have any update on the above? 

    Also needed some guidance on the below questions 
    1. Do we need multiple licenses for Runtime resource and CITRIX VDE in BLUEPRISM 7.0?
    2. Do we need multiple licenses for Runtime resource and CITRIX VDE in BLUEPRISM 7.1.1?
    3. Do we Need to install full package in 7.0 for Runtime resource and inside the Citrix VDE ?
    4. Do we Need to install full package on runtime resource and only Citrix agent in 7.1.1 inside the Citrix VDE ?
    5. Do we need a different license for CITRIX Agent ?
    6. How do we move blue prism installer.EXE within the CITRIX VDE?

    Any information as to why CITRIX AUTOMATION is disabled for trial versions of blueprism ?
