Outlook Undeliverable Emails

ELIFAS
Level 2

I am currently automating a process that I want it to extract the undeliverable emails. However, I am having difficulties with the process unable to retrieve all the emails and at some point it is returning more items than what is in the folder as unread. Subsequently, it is failing to mark the same emails as read even after executing the action to mark it as read. I tried recreating a new page to retrieve and different VBO's still not working.

Hi Elifas, there is a threat on the community: 7.3.2 MS Outlook Email VBO issue with Get Sent Ite... - SS&C Blue Prism Community, a new Outlook VBO has been published on the DX: BluePrism Digital Exchange. Please see if that resolves your issue.

Hello, @ELIFAS ,

My response is less about the Outlook VBO and more about the possible intent of the automation.

My first inclination would be to delete the item once the automation has logged it.  However, it sounds like you expect someone to come back to the errant email and correct whatever the issue is.  If so, why not move the items out of the 'Undeliverable' folder to another folder?  This folder could be a direct subfolder of the 'Undeliverable or another subfolder of the 'Inbox'.  You could name it something that aligns with what you expect to happen with these items ('Notified', 'Logged', or 'Processed').

I see this doing a couple of things.  1) When you poll the 'Undeliverable' folder, it should only contain net-new items (regardless of Read/Unread), and 2) You can more easily manage the new subfolder to make sure items are being addressed in an appropriate/timely manner.

Not sure this would be useful in your overall automation, but I thought I would mention it.

Take care,
