Any feedback is welcomed!!

When we check control room resource tab for production VDI state,

We have seen one prod vdi in missing state in resource tab.

1. How to check if the blue prism services are running on the particular VDI?

2. What will be better fix for this?

Appreciate your kind support.

In Blue Prism Version 6 and higher, a Runtime Resource may report itself as 'Missing' in the Control Room screen. See the example below:

This state occurs because the Interactive Client cannot communicate in both directions with the machine to which it is attempting to connect.

When a Runtime Resource is online, every few seconds it sends a message to the Application Server saying that it is still online and what it is doing. This is recorded against the Runtime Resource in the database.

However, when Control Room data is retrieved from the database, if the Runtime Resource is online, but the time since the last update is greater than 60 seconds, its state will be displayed as 'Missing' in Control Room.

This could be because the Runtime Resource itself has crashed, or the machine has been shut down unexpectedly without a clean shutdown of the Runtime Resource instance.

As a result, the Runtime Resource is prevented from sending disconnection messages to the Application Server which is expecting the Resource to be online and therefore gives it a 'Missing' status in Control Room.

If the Runtime Resource is online and the machine hosting the resource is active and can be communicated with over the network, then the 'Missing' status may be caused by firewall settings. This is especially likely as a cause if the performance of the Interactive Client is slow (for example, taking minutes to load the Control Room screen).

It is also possible that the underlying Process has consumed all of the available CPU and memory on a machine, which could result in the Runtime Resource(s) for this Process losing connection and being given a state of 'Missing'.

How to resolve this issue:

If the Runtime Resource has crashed, or the machine has been shut down unexpectedly without a clean shutdown of the Runtime Resource instance, perform a clean restart of Blue Prism by following the instructions shown in the following article:

If the Runtime Resource is online and the machine hosting the resource is active and can be communicated with over the network, please contact your Network Administration Team in charge of the network upon which these machines are active, and ask them to check the network latency and the firewall settings for the machines involved.

Also, monitor the CPU and memory usage of the underlying Process on your machine, and check for any other connection-related errors in the Process as a potential root cause.

As a first step, have you gone through our Knowledge Base articles about this scenario? I would recommend review of "Why does a Runtime Resource report itself as 'Missing' in Control Room?", which provides an explanation of why this status can occur and some steps to test network connectivity.
