Unable to Read Web Path (Chrome)

ScottRobson

I've noticed I seem unable to Read the Web Path attribute from a Web Element spied in Browser Mode against Chrome.  This is using Blue Prism V6.4.3a.

Does anyone have a way of doing this, or does this functionality only work with HTML mode against an IE browser?

Hello Scott

Are you talking about the "Web Path" attribute in the Application Modeller that comes up when we spy any element? If yes, then 'Web Path' is not a not valid attribute name, therefore will not bring back any information.

Thanks for the response Karan.  Is there a reason why Web Path isn't a valid attribute name, when it is an attribute found on the Application Modeller?
20749.jpgNote: Screenshot is of the element I wanted to use a Dynamic path with.  I am attempting a read of an element which does NOT have Web Path as a matched attribute, so there should be no conflict there.

Is there a pseudonym I can use as the [attribute name] instead of 'Web Path' which will return the Path?

For context, I am wanting to read in the Path of one element, to dynamically calculate the Path of a related attribute.
The web application i'm using appears to be poorly built (I suspect it's a web front end for a legacy back-end), and using surface automation is just not a realistic alternative to use with this application, as the majority of elements are not necessarily screen visible.

Hi Scott,

Did you find a solution to obtain the Web Path of an element spied with Browser Mode? I am running into the same issue. Thanks!

Hi Scott,

There is a Read Action called "Get Path" you may use, it is available for all modern browser element types.

Note that "Get Attribute" only works for native HTML attribute name, but not the Blue Prism Application Modeller attribute name.

Hi Shri,

You need to use a read stage and then it will reveal the option. I believe 'Get Path' was added in BP v6.5 so it is more likely you should have it than not.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the response. I am using BP 6.4.2. May be that's the reason I am not getting it.
