multiple processes running at the same time on the same machine

I need one process to run in the background on the same machine and in the same time as other processes. Is it even possible?

It is possible, with the appropriate run mode. Please read on 'Run mode' in your manual.

You can run any number of processes if all have run mode (of the objects which process use) to background. But you required the licences according to the concurrent execution.
