Hi dbenitez,
There's some links and threads you should check out below. Near as I can tell, if you have the knowledge base, the staff etc.
You are almost always best off using virtualisation for everything. Blue Prism Application Server / MS SQL DB / and a VM for each RunTimeResource.
Then to have several environments set up for development, testing,QA and one for production.
The VMs for run time resources is especially desirable when you need carbon copy configs for a dozen different applications based on decades old technology. They can be a huge pain to configure, having an ISO of the exact same set up you can literally copy paste will save lots of headaches.
But if you don't have the rersources for large scale VMs, using physical machines works too but it is a lot less flexible and you may run into issues trying to set up multiple machines identically.
Also I recommend having a dedicated mirror SQL DB for the production server so yuo can query it directly without affecting production processes.
Lastly, some recommend having each BOT talk directly to the DB server instead of the application to improve some aspects of performance but BP themselves recommend against it. Some forum members have reported success with no loss of encyrption or other base functionality to data transfer but I'm not confident enough yet myself to test it out.
