It would be very useful to classify or to filter Environment Variables for example by processes because to handle lot of process and lot of Environment Variables very difficult.

Hi Morandini!! I like the idea, it's very useful

Hi @EmersonF ! Thanks, I believe this idea can help

NOTE:  there is another idea with a different name related to adding a collection to environment variables that is actually the exact same change request.  That other Idea has an additional 66 votes.

I can also say this has been one of the most requested feature changes in the product for many years,  long before this idea portal existed.

This has by far the most votes of any idea requested by users,  it is not a massive change (groups were added to most other listviews in the product a 3 or 4 years back), and without this the Environment Variables feature becomes almost impossible to use for big licence customers with 100's of variables.

Hello,

We’re aware this has a huge number of votes.  I’m changing the status to Planned – Later on the basis that we are developing this capability within our browser-based interfaces.

In addition, Blue Prism 7.2 includes:

  • Environment Variables API – Setup and manage environment variables, enabling the capability to move data between environments. Enables IT systems to notify the digital workforce that external systems are not available to automate; and provides the capability to search and filter the environment data.

Kind regards

Hi Team, We have 60+ Process created and each process has average of 10 to 15 environment variables, which is going to nearly 600+ Environment variables created. The challenges we are facing is searching the required environment variables to update values. As there are many Env. Var. created, we see that, slowness in scrolling to required variable. This we are facing for 60+ Process, if we cross 100+ process, it will be tedious to serach the required Env. variable. So, is it possible to allow developer to create a folder for the respective process, under that, he/she can create environment variables with respect to that process. So for 60 process, we will end up in creating 60 folders, under that we can have 'n' number of Env. variables. This will be easy to search the variable, fast accessing and will be well organized. Please let me know, if this can be implemented in all version of BP (atleast starting from 6.8.0). I have attached reference screenshot of control room, same way, if you could implement for Environment variables also.

This would be a GREAT idea to implement!

There have been previous requests asking for the same thing. So far none have been implemented. I do hope this one finally will be granted and combined with the previous requests as the current situation becomes harder to handle.

That is a great idea. It will be super helpful if Blue Prism can organize the environment variables in a folder structure.

Hi Mallikaarjuna - to counter this issue- We started using a JSON file for all the environment variables as Key and Value Pairs related to a process.
but yeah getting a folder would be a good idea. e.g in expression inside environment var.

Hello @kapiasp

Having reviewed our plans for upcoming releases, we've decided to include an enhancement to allow users to filter the environment variable list screens found in existing Interactive Client user interface in the upcoming Blue Prism 7.3 release.

As a result in this change of delivery target, I'm going to update the status of this idea to Planned - Now.

To cover the "Grouping" aspect of this idea, we're going to update another idea that was previously marked as a duplicate of this one. Please see Grouped Environment Variables for more information on the expected delivery timelines for that other enhancement,

Regards,

Rob
