Please Upvote this useful feature for AutomateC.exe

Hello Blue Prism Community,

A few weeks ago I had submitted this idea (below). On further discussions with Blue Prism, I've come to know that it's a good feature to have. Please believe me when I say that having this feature added will save us a ton of development time in building complicated alternatives with Blue Prism.

The idea needs at least 15 votes to be considered by Blue Prism. Please spread the word to your teams and beyond, and upvote by going to this page.  😊

Hi Andy,

"On further discussions with Blue Prism, I've come to know that it's a good feature to have"

Every idea that you have is a good idea! You don't need BP to tell you that. If you see an opportunity to improve what the good folks at BP have made for us, and launch it as a new idea, that's always good in my book.

Next step is gathering votes, which requires us, Community members, to go out to the Ideas pages every once and a while (daily in my case) and browse through an immense list of good ideas to vote on. Due to a terrible interface, many probably give up after only reading a few. Only if you visit them very regularly, you can keep track of new ideas and vote for them. This has been pointed out to BP by me and others, here are only a few of my ideas to improve the Ideas interface:
https://community.blueprism.com/idea/ideation-next-and-previous-buttons
https://community.blueprism.com/content/ideas/viewidea?IdeationKey=bfb48916-7a4c-4f84-9c6f-995a20faef8a
...both with comments from BP.

One of my ideas to improve voting on new ideas is to mirror each new idea to Community to make ideas more visible and get more voting. This is exactly what you are doing here by pointing out your idea to us in Community, and in my eyes a good idea. Here is mine:
https://community.blueprism.com/idea/link-new-ideas-to-community
...proposing exactly that. Don't forget to read the BP comment in the footer.

Now, on your idea:
My only requirements for putting a vote on any new idea are:

  • I need to understand the idea
  • I need to think that it can be beneficial, however slightly

Me never having used AutomateC.exe, and probably never will, I have no clue what your idea would contribute, so I will not be voting on this idea. But I know AutomateC.exe turns up regularly in Community threads. So others will hopefully vote, specially after you mentioning it here.

Keep up the good work!

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the response. I had to go through a couple of iterations with BP because the alternate ideas proposed (details aside) requires considerable effort for the same result.

I did do some searching around to achieve my end result before I posted this idea following a support ticket. I do agree that the UI leaves a lot to be desired, but I'm hoping there will be improvement. I've already received feedback that some of them have can upvote, whilst others are seeing that their upvote arrow button isn't responding despite being logged in. And not to forget some issues when I posted my first VBO to digital exchange - https://digitalexchange.blueprism.com/dx/entry/129928/solution/regular-expression-information-extractor and I was told by BP that improvements are being made to the experience.

Your feedback on (not) voting for an idea is correct. If we don't know what it is about, then one must be thoughtful about voting for it. That said, I have seen several questions on AutomateC.exe although they have to do with other features of this Utility. Therefore, my post was to galvanize those who have experience with AutomateC.exe to upvote and help us collectively.

I will look through the links you have brought to my attention.

Happy Automating!
