To all community members,

Internet Explorer (IE) is being gradually deprecated by many web application vendors. This means previously written Blue Prism IE objects must be converted to Chrome/Edge/Firefox to ensure they can still receive support from various software vendors.

Blue Prism(c) Application Modeller Conversion Tool, firstly released on July 2020, provides browser object conversion support from IE to Chrome/Edge/Firefox. The tool does not completely substitute human efforts but will positively reduce the amount of effects an organisation would need to spend in the conversion process, making the entire project a much easier one.

The new version of Blue Prism Application Modeller Conversion Tool v1.2.0 has just been released. It contains some bug fixes, and more importantly new features to allow more complex and fine-grained conversion rules definition using .NET functions hosted in the plugin. As a result of that, all IE to Chrome/Edge/Firefox conversion rules file have been updated along with the core application and its associated plugin file (BPAMConversionToolPlugin.dll). It is recommended that current users of the tool to upgrade to this version to achieve a better conversion outcome out of the box.

A lot of contents have been added to the GibHub site where the tool is currently being hosted to assist with the conversion. Some key assets associated with the tool:

  • Digital Exchange site can be found here. This links to the GitHub repository.
  • The GitHub repository can be found here. We have highlighted 4 key factors that would impact your browser conversion from IE to Chrome/Edge/Firefox. It is recommended you have a read there.
  • v1.2.0 change log hosted on GitHub can be found here.
  • Conversion limitations (not exhaustive) can be found here.
If you have suggestions on how we can further improve the tool and the conversion rules as they are defined, please kindly post in DX Community forum to make us aware of it. We will carefully consider those and implement them as needed.
