One launch file gets downloaded from web portal. After launching the file it creates the background process "javaw.exe". Seems like it is an java based application but spying with Java mode also not working.

You need to enable Java Access Bridge for Java mode to work. Rest depends on the app.

We have 5-6 Automation of such cases where we are opening a URL and then click on icon which open an application of javaw.
- You can enable the JAB if not enable which will enable the JAVA SPY mode.
- See if you can spy in Java mode, what we noticed is JAVA mode is very late in highlighting and spying to our application.
- If this is same case for you, then you have to go for Region Mode
