Blue prism support for Mozilla - surface automation

I have a use case where we interact with Citrix environment using Socks proxy to connect. I am having issues with connecting through IE but with Mozilla I am able to connect just fine. My question is that would it matter what browser I use since I will be doing surface automation. Not sure what differences might be if I can't have IE to work and have to use Mozilla instead. Also, if could let me know later on if this can be migrated to use with more supported browser for Blue prism i.e. IE. Blue prism will work with Mozilla but not supported natively, correct? thanks.

HTML mode is only supported in IE. The other modes (Win, AA, Region) are available and you can use them even though Windows mode does not reveal much in case of Firefox. You could also use startup parameters to make your life easier. I quickly googled the following link: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Command_line_arguments For your purpose, this might be sufficient. You will not be able to migrate your solution to IE later on, you will have to create a new object and actions for IE.

Hi Pankaj, If you are having to use Surface Automation anyway for some reason - because the browser is withing Citrix? - than it would not matter what browser is being used. If it is local IE that you are having problems with than I can see know reason whey a your Socks proxy will not work? Chrome and IE work slightly differently to Firefox, in that the Proxy is set up at System level rather then however Firefox does it (some settings bespoke to firefox) - but it should still be possible to get any application working over proxy. I am not an IE expert - so I am not of much help (we usually get system owners to sort that stuff out for us - compatibility with IE is usually a pre-requisite for any busines software). We have an item on our roadmap to build an interface with Chrome into Blue Prism - and I believe some work has already started on that. However, because I think Chrome and Firefox effectively use Proxy connections in the same way - that would be unlikely to help you in this instance. We have no plans of an interface with Firefox (it has less than 9% of the browser market share - and that share is even lower in the enterprise landscape).

Hi Denis, thanks for the response. It is strange as my socks connection works with Firefix but not IE .. We are running IE to connect to citrix and then use RDP in citrix to connect to windows applications. I am not able to make that connection to Citrix using IE. Using Hummingbird socks client any help with what settings on IE need to be changed or verified will be great. Appreciate your response. thanks.
