Connection to big data sources like Hadoop with Impala

Has anyone queried and retrieved data from big data sources like Hadoop with Impala. I'm planning to try a modified OLEDB VBO but would like use best practices if it's already been solved.

Our OLEDB VBO is somewhat simplistic - if you are going to create your own modified version of it I would recommend stucturing it more like the SQL Server VBO so that you can have transactions (if the datasources you mention are compatible with transactions) - that would allow for more robust use of your data layer.
