Detach from chrome does not work

Hi everyone.

In order to troubleshoot a potential cause of a crippling problem I need to cycle through all chrome PID's (Process ID) by detaching the current PID, attaching to the next, getting some readings and loop these steps. 

I find that I am able to detach once, but from that point onwards I get an error saying it cannot attach to the next PID because Blue Prism is already connected to a different application (which is the one I first try to detach from). 

The detach attempt is just a navigate with detach as the selected action. I can find hardly any previous or troubleshooting information on detach actions so I ask my question here. Any ideas?

P.S., is there a way to return the PID of the currently connected process?

I just tested Detach in 6.10, and it doesn't work there either. My guess is that it's due to the new feature involving the Tracking ID. I tried both ways, using the Tracking ID and not using the Tracking ID. Just doesn't work for me at all.

@robert.nicklin Is this an issue you've heard about already? Seems to apply to both 6.9 and 6.10.​

This hasn't been something I've been made aware of - I'll take a look through recent support cases tomorrow and see if anyone else has been reported this issue on 6.9 or 6.10.

My understanding is that a "Detach" action without a Tracking ID should detach all active browser instances, whereas performing the same action while supplying a Tracking ID should detach just the instance specified. By the sounds of it this isn't what is happening of course, but I haven't tried to replicate this myself at the moment.

I haven't seen any mention of the use of Tracking ID in the messages in this thread, if you happen to have the processes and objects you used to test this could you generate a Tracking ID associated to the browser instance you launch, specify this in the detach action and let me know if this changes the behaviour at all?

Hello Dave,

Apologies about the delay in getting back to you - I've now had chance to look over and rerun our tests for the detach actions and I'm currently unable to replicate the situation described where a detach action is not correctly disposing of the connection to a browser, either with or without a Tracking ID supplied.

I'll speak to the support team and we'll keep an eye out for any incoming support cases related to detaching browsers in 6.9 and 6.10 in case this is reported by another user and we're able to replicate and investigate further.

Hi,
we have experienced the same issue. It is necessary to use the same object for running Google Chrome and processing, instead of using different object for launching. Detach action does not work without Tracking ID and also with Tracking ID. We will report it using ticket also.

Good morning, All,

I am assuming that this had been fixed, given this thread is several years old, but...  We are in the process of upgrading from 6.10.2 to 7.3.2 (for the moment).  We have been an 'MS Edge House', but a whole host of issues (most not related to BP) have me seriously looking at Chrome.  I am now experiencing this issue with the 'Detach' not seeming to function.

If I read @matbla91 's response correctly, having all of the actions in a single Object is not entirely insurmountable, but it is problematic and runs counter to our general direction of keeping Objects focused on specific activities or functions.  It also seems to indication that the launch action would then need to be distributed to all of our various Processes, rather than contained in a common [Wrapper] Object.
