Edge Browser: UIA element values change with operating system

Hello,

we noticed that some values from UIA elements change depending on the OS from the ressource pc.
Apart from the OS all other details are the same.
MS Edge: Version 93.0.961.38

Blue Prism 6.10 Browser Extension

Windows 8 AM Element Details:

36428.png

Windows 10 Element Details:

36429.png

So far we only noticed this with browser applications.
As long as it effects only the browser popups it's manageable.
We only worry that other parts or even applications may be affected.

Has anybody else noticed this behaviour or knows the cause of the changing values?

sincerley,
David B.

AA and UIA are Accessibility Interfaces that can be rendered by the application housing them in different ways. Browsers are notorious for changing how they render them especially when looking at 'alert' style windows like in your screenshot. This is true even on the same OS, same Browser, but different browser versions.

Hello,
We have reported a general problem with UIA automation when using different Windows settings in BP 6.9
The value of an attribute is translated according to Windows settings and any check on this value could fail.
What you are describing might be the same problem.

For reference:
"We are pleased to inform you that the issue you described has been logged with our Development Team for a product fix. That fix will be provided in a future version of the product. Until that fix is assessed, included and tested we will be unable to provide a specific product version or release date. We therefore recommend that you track the fix by checking forthcoming Release Notes for the bug reference number BG-3065."
