How to Automate Import BP Release

Anonymous
Not applicable
We are not able to import BP Release using command line. C:\Blue Prism Limited\Blue Prism Automate>AutomateC.exe /user myusr mycred /import "MyRelease.bprelease" Importing MyRelease.bprelease Error: failed to create process - Exception while loading process : This is not a valid process definition (root element is - it should be ) It seems that we can import only Process/VBO xml files . https://portal.blueprism.com/customer-support/knowledge-base/not-valid-process-definition-error-when-importing-release-package) We do not want to maintain xml files separately . We need this feature to automate our release process via a centralized tool. Is there some alternate way (http/commmandline/webservice) which can be invoked via software to automate import release process.

You are correct, it is not possible to import releases via command line. Maybe start a thread in the ideas and enhancments thread on this forum. I understand that the reason for no command line for releases is the complexity of importing releases, if you think about all the options presented to you in the import release GUI related to overwriting existing processes/objects, publishing processes, importing credentials, setting environment variables, etc, etc, etc. There is good reason why this is a manual task.

It is now possible to import a Release file from a command line using Blue Prism Version 6.2. See the Release Notes for more details of the /importrelease switch.
