How to optimize Disk space on VM and SQL DB

vinodchinthakin

HI,

Running of Bots creates different logs, working on application creates App data or Temp data. which all these results in consumption of Disk space in VM as well as in SQL Database.

My query is how we can optimize Disk space by deleting files. which files we can delete so that it won't affect Bots or Application.
1. Can we delete C:\Users\Appdata\Temp?
2. Can we delete event logs?
3. what can be deleted from SQL DB tables?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Vinod please do not delete anything from the tables without consulting BP Support first - there is a significant chance of damaging your environment. Session logs are the likely to form the bulk of the data and you should set up Automatic Archiving vis the BP Client UI to maintain this.

Hi John,
Thanks for the document. It helps a lot for me.
But we have a major issue with local data, which is creating in C:\Users\Appdata\Temp location. We are not able to identify root cause. On an average 500MB of data in the form of dat files and folders ( showing as zero KB for files as well as for folders) is creating on local disk in VM per day.
Deleting old files will have any effect on the environment or bots.? Do we need to change anything in registry.?

Any suggestions from you which will help us...

Is this issue occurring for every Runtime Resource in your environment, or just a few?  Is the in-product archiving function being used on those Runtime Resources where the Temp folder is growing?

If the issue occurs for all Runtime Resources, I'd guess that it's more likely caused by the applications used in the business process. You may need to monitor that folder while running your processes to see which applications are causing files to be written to that folder
