Impact on Blue Prism after Windows OS Upgrade

Adikeshavamurth

Hi Team,

We are using Blue Prism Version 6.10.3.47902 (with .NET Framework version 4.7) on Windows 10 Enterprise version having OS Build version 19042.2604. Now we are planning to upgrade the OS to Windows 11. Can anyone help me with what impact will this have on existing Blue prism processes and Objects. Also what are things that I need to take care post upgradation?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Adikeshavamurthy Maroor -

You can refer the Blue prism documentation around compatibility/hardware/software point of view - Detailed version could be found here : https://bpdocs.blueprism.com/en-us/supported-software.htm

Additionally keep an eye on all the potential areas which could be impacted, including:

  • Application Modeller Testing/General Sanity Check on Target Applications/Integrations : Ensure a thorough Sanity/Health check ups are being carried out on all the target applications - Manually and then followed by Blue Prism Objects as part of Testing, Look out for dependent plugin/extension for web, all other applications as part of Integration check, check modeller, attributes for highlighted items and over all actions in the objects.
  • Security and Group Policies: Windows 11 may have new security features or settings that could impact Blue Prism processes. It is important to review and adjust security settings as necessary to ensure that Blue Prism processes can still run smoothly.
  • Performance: Windows 11 may have different performance characteristics than Windows 10, which could impact the performance of Blue Prism processes. It may be necessary to optimise Blue Prism processes to take advantage of new performance features or to adjust processes to accommodate any changes in performance.

Hi !

Windows major OS version change implied platform change. From automation point of view, the best practice is to perform full tests to all existing automations on new platform as it is likely applications versions will be changed and previously spied attributes changed.

Hi Mukesh,

Thanks for the turnaround.

Can you please give me an example or list down a few areas where optimization can be done?

Thanks,
Adi M.
