Does anybody know what the most efficient way would be for me to open a file based on its extension and location? The rules are that the file with that specific extension will be the only file in the folder present at the time that has that extension and should somehow be selectable (it's a pdf in my case). How should I do this without interfacing with adobe reader etc.?

Thanks a lot! I've been able to pull it off by following your guidelines. I did actually need to interface with reader because I have to read a string out of the PDF file each time 🙂

One of the Process Examples, distributed on the portal alongside the mandatory Process Templates, is for files - and it includes examples of doing just what Bastiaan describes.
If you have not done so already, I can recommend importing all the Process Examples and familiarising yourself with the logic contained within them.
