Pending sessions control room

Hello,

since a few months it sometimes happens that the logout of the resources remains on pending.
This happens mostly at night, because the clients are rebooted and thus certain bots that are still running are killed. Then sometimes the logout seems to cause problems.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

Hi Jakob,

if your bots are already running you will get in trouble.
There are several options
  • In the main loop of your process check the time an shutdown the process prior the logout and /or
    • Check the IfStopRequested() function and stop the running process if requested
    • If you are using a BluePrism provided template both checks are built in.
  • In case you are using IfStopRequested() your are able to stop a running process form the commandline (maybe by the scheduler), but you need to know the sessionID: automatec.exe /requeststop sessionID /user name password

the problem is that we have processes, which hang on a number they cannot process. So they don't come to the point where IfStopRequested() is checked.

Hi Jakob,

I would recommend having a discussion with your IT department regarding resource maintenance periods. It's critical that you have an agreed upon time when processes won't be running so that the machines can undergo any necessary updates, for example on a Sunday evening.

They should be able to set a timeframe for updates to be install and the resources to be restarted, preventing them from restarting at unexpected times.

It would potentially be beneficial to split your resources into two groups, and have them carry out updates on alternate weeks just in case the updates have any undesirable effect.
