Remote Access Tools that Work!

 All,

I have worked with many customers over the years while at Blue Prism and a regular topic for issues or general confusion have been around the use of RDP and Remote Access.  Many times it is around not being able to find the application or the process suddenly breaks (because the session was closed) and they generally lead to the root cause being the the use of RDP, just don't do it!  Our Remote Access Guide https://portal.blueprism.com/documents/v6-data-sheet-remote-access-tools has the details on what to look for when identifying the right non-invasive tool to use, but it does not show a significant number of examples for customers to use or evaluate.

Help the overall community and add here what #RemoteAccessTool you are using and if you are experiencing any pitfalls or function gaps!

I've seen customers successfully use the following:

  1. Bomgar
  2. TigerVNC
  3. TeamViewer
  4. VNC
  5. VNCViewer
  6. Tivoli Remote Control
  7. TightVNC
  8. VMware vSphere
  9. DameWare
  10. NetSupport
  11. VMware Console
  12. PCAnywhere

Dear Adam,

Thanks for sharing. Do you have any experience with Remote Desktop Manager http://remotedesktopmanager.com/ ?

Regards,

I have experience of Remote Desktop Manager (RDM) by Devolutions from a previous workplace. RDM is simply a manager for connections, it is usually used on an employee's laptop and RDM then can be used to connect with any remote control products on the laptop. Usually this would be RDP but other systems can also be used e.g. SSH, Dameware, VNC etc.

So RDM itself will likely not cause issues with Blue Prism, but whether it disrupts Blue Prism or not will depend on what underlying connection method is being used within RDM.
