Text out of table column not extracted as desired

Hi,

I have a PDF document containing a table with several columns.
For an automation we have to extract for some columns the values.
One column is called 'CEASEVOICELINE' and can hold or "0" or "-1" or " ".
With each value later on in the automation a different action is to be done.
In the DFD I set up a Text field with in a first attempt 2options : 0 / -1  - later on I added a 3rd option " " (a space character - seems to end up as empty value in the option list - see screenshot).
The issue I'm having is that all the time "0" is detected by Decipher when there is nothing present in the field.

How can I obtain that only 0 is captured when there is actually "0" and "-1" when there is "-1" in the cell ?

Hi Jan,

Was Decipher able to recognise the column details successfully without explicitly stating the options? i.e. what happens if you remove the options from the DFD.

Thank you for your feedback.

I started without options but in that case it took data from other columns in a lot of cases.  I provide one example in a screenshot below where you see it takes data from other columns (I had to erase some confidential data in red).  No matter how many times I wipe this faulty data capture (erase value in table field 'CEASEVOICELINE' for the record) with Data Verification the same is happening again and again.  So mainly that's why I tried with the options.  There I have then the issue I described originally.

Hi Jan,

Having a space or blank value will be ignored in options as the expectation is that all options can be selected and you can't select blank space. As such you may as well remove this, but having it won't cause any harm.

What might work is adding a default value of "n/a", so in the event the field isn't found it defaults to this, instead of the first value in the list. I think this is what you're experiencing. Also, adding the adjacent column headers to the excluded headers may help prevent Decipher from reading the fields close by.
