It would be beneficial if we had the ability of exporting credentials from one version of BP such that they can be imported into a newer version of BP. Issues were experienced during our migration from V6.8 to V7.1 such that it was strongly advised for us to do a migration of automations over a few weeks, instead of over a weekend. Our migration required about 190 bots to be migrated. Future migrations could be double or more. Having to extract the password from BP by running get credentials once per user and then manually keying those across to 7.1.2 was very time consuming and annoying.

Hello @nicholas.voon

Thank you for highlighting this and I also had this thought in my mind to keep the Usernames and Passwords as it is while we are migrating to higher versions of Blue Prism production Environments.

This will make the migration easier without re-work on the credentials Management.

The existing advice seems to be to duplicate your database and upgrade the duplicated database to the new version to migrate the data however in the case of needing to run 2 versions in parallel for rollback capabilities, the credentials in the migrated database would need to be moved to new VMs and this may cause conflicts.

Hi @nicholas.voon,

Thanks for taking the time to raise an idea.

I've reviewed the details and have no further questions for you, so I'm going to set this idea to a Reviewed status for now. Next steps will be to see how many votes this idea collects from the community to see whether this is an idea that has widespread appeal and should therefore be considered for future roadmap.

As an FYI I think there might be other ideas in the portal that cover the same topic, if I find this to be the case and there are more votes on other ideas for the same enhancement, I'll look to merge this into the other, more upvoted items which is now the process we're trying to follow to centralize feedback and votes for similar requirements.

Regards,

Rob
