Regular expressions directly in the Expressions Editor

We would like to see regular expressions matching and replacing using the Expressions editor in Blue Prism, so we can use it in e.g. calculation and decision stages.

Currently, our work around is a separate BP Object, and we would like it integrated directly in the BP engine.

As you correctly point out there is already a VBO available which is capable of querying using RegEx and extracting any matching values based on a RegEx query. 

What additional functionality are you thinking could be added for RegEx interactions? Or is it only moving the functionality from a VBO to the calculation stage? What benefits do you see this having?

Implementing Regular Expressions would mean much faster development and slightly faster execution, e.g. as operations that now requires multiple stages and an extra variable could be performed in a single Decision stage.
