Retaining Session Variable Value

When Session Variable is changed during runtime  .Options to be provided to retain its value . This will be helpful in a scenario when we are working on process which run more than once in a day and need output of previous run .

Can you please describe an example of what you are looking for and why?

I.e. What Session Value(s) would you want to persist to another Session?  Are these better represented as Environmental Variable data (spans multiple Sessions)

I am trying to understand the use cases for where this is relevant, to determine whether Session Variables are the right approach.
