Is getting Decipher worth it?

Hi, I need to justify the additional cost to get Decipher. Another person in our organisation that recently joined, said that based on his previous experience Decipher has a low level of reliability (according to his experience 20%). As a developer, use to solving problems, I don't trust comments like that on face value. Please provide me with your examples of how you use Decipher, what type of PDFs you process and the reliability.

Hi @StephanieStrydom,

Ultimately it comes down to your specific use case. By-and-large, Decipher is very reliable on form-based recognition after it's been properly trained. One area where it is lacking a bit is in handwriting recognition. If that's a big part of your IDP use case then I would recommend you look at our Chorus DA product. It excels at handwriting recognition.

If you reach out to your Blue Prism account team they should be able to supply you with various customer use cases and testimonials related to both platforms.

Cheers,

Hi Stephanie.

We have many customers using Decipher in production with good results. Every time a new release is issued (v2.2 coming very soon), it improves so your colleague may have worked with an early version of the product.

Also, following the best practices (Decipher IDP best practices (blueprism.com)) will help you determine early on if the documents you are trying to read are a good use-case. All IDP products need reasonable document quality and ones with DPI levels at 100-200 will be difficult to accurately read. Decipher's minimum requirement of 300 DPI is pretty standard across competing products.

Anyway, structured and semi-structured forms with 300 DPI are Decipher's sweet-spot. Take a look at the best practices doc and give Decipher a try to see if the documents you have in mind are a good fit.

Cheers

jack

PS - For a POC, you can install the entirety of Decipher and Blue Prism on a single VM so there is really minimum cost (other than your time) to give Decipher a try.

Thank you for the feedback. I have reached out to the Blue Prism team and they will be providing me with a trail license key to try it out.

Hello,

It was mentioned that v2.2 is coming soon (Posted 08-26-2022 14:45) but it's mid-November already.

Are there any updated plans to get it released anytime "sooner" as per primary plan, by the end of Y2023 we were expecting to pilot/PoC v2.3 already with all critical functionalities such as AD integration, proper Admin panel management.

Hi Lukas,

Our apologies for the delay of the new release, rest assured we are working tirelessly behind the scenes to get this out as soon as possible. We carry out rigorous testing on every product release and sometimes have to hold back to ensure it meets our high quality and security standards. We are currently working towards a December release.

With respect to v2.3 and the functionality mentioned, I'm not currently able to provide a complete picture. We are actively working on Decipher's roadmap based on valuable customer feedback to ensure we can pack as many of these key features in as possible, while still getting it out in a reasonable timescale.

I would recommend checking in with your SS&C Blue Prism representative to ensure you're kept up to date on these developments.

Thanks
