Outlook unintentionally sends multiple mails

We are using standard Outlook VBO which works quite well but one of our processes sends the same mail multiple times. 
Our business receives the same mail at the same time 2 - 4 times. We could not figure out why this happens.
Any hints where to look are much appreciated.
