Scheduler Timetable Enhancements

Anonymous
Not applicable
One of the limitations I have observed around the control room when managing production is that when considering scheduling issues, the "Timetable" feature is not particularly helpful in identifying where capacity is likely to arise for 2 reasons: 1. The timetable does not enable you to easily view availability by resource (or resource pool) 2. The timetable is only concerned with process start times.   I have developed a fairly basic Excel visualisation of our production schedules which represent the process start times and expected end times (I base this on the maximum normal run time rather than an average to consider ~95% eventualities) this splits the schedule by resource. It feels as if it should be possible for BP to provide an integrated solution here. Expected end time could be derived from session duration data for a given process and this could be a "live" representation throughout the day. (ie if a given process has completed earlier than expected) then the timetable would show the resource as available.   Would be interested to hear thoughts on this.

From my experience most controller teams have their own internal resource mapping spreadsheet to mark on when resources are in use and when they are available.  That option tends to be easier to view than the timetable view in BP and is also easier to share with managers that do not use the tool.
