How can I start the Blue Prism Automate.exe as windows administrator? What are the command line options for that, if they exist. Or are there other alternative?

I'm using Blue Prism version 7.1.2

Hi Ricardo,

There aren't any specific Blue Prism commands to start Automate.exe with Windows Administrator privileges, but there are a few alternate ways this can be done in Windows:

Alter the properties of the Automate.exe program to always 'Run as Administrator'. This way you can set Blue Prism to always run with administrator permissions and avoid any manual intervention:

- Find the main executable of Blue Prism – automate.exe. This will normally be located in the installation folder such as: C:\Program Files\Blue Prism Limited\Blue Prism Automate\
- When you see the main executable of the program, right-click on it to view the contextual menu, then select Properties.
- In the Properties window, select the Compatibility tab.
- At the bottom of the window, check the box labeled 'Run this program as an administrator' and then click Apply or OK.

This setting is now applied, and the program will always 'Run as Administrator'.

You can also edit the properties of a program shortcut so that you do not have to modify the properties of the main executable as follows:

- Create a shortcut for Automate.exe (for example, right-click on the program and select Send To > Desktop (create shortcut).
- Open the shortcut's Properties window, then select the Shortcut and click Advanced. This action will open the Advanced Properties window.
- In the Advanced Properties window, check the box labeled 'Run as administrator' and then click OK.
- Click OK again in the Properties window and the update is completed.

As a result of the above, each time you launch Automate.exe using a startup script, either directly or via a shortcut, it will be running ‘as Administrator’.
