Unable to select anything in Studio

DavidMonks

Hi,

I'm a complete newbie looking to understand BP and have downloaded and installed BP6.8 Learning Edition and then downloaded the Labs files and imported the bprelease file. So far so good!

However, I've fallen at the first hurdle as in Lab01 it requires me to create a new object (done), name it (done), double click on it (didn't work! but right click enabled me to view the object)

On opening Studio I notice that I have 3 tabs Initialise, Clean Up and Action 1 and I'm asked to right click on the Action 1 tab and rename it (fails as Rename is greyed out - as are all other options except Copy and Find References!)

I also notice that I already have an Error despite not having done anything yet which is that Action 1 is Missing Link

However, all of the stages are greyed out as also is everything else except for Launch and Application Modeller

Anyone know what's going on?

All help gratefully received.

David

Hi David,

Double clicking an existing Process or Business Object in Studio will open the item in Edit mode. If the double clicking isn't working for you, may be it is an accessibility setting you have enabled; other than that there is no other reason I can think of why this wouldn't work as expected.

I suspect the reason you can not make changes to the Object once you have used the context menu to open the Object, is that you have selected the View option from the menu instead of the Edit option. The View option opens the item in read-only, but we need to make edits so we need to use the Edit option.

Hope this helps.

Carl,

Thanks for your response and I now realise my mistake (an easy one to make and perhaps should be explained more thoroughly in the instructions!).

I was clicking on the Object to select it which as you know opens the Detail information pane and then attempting to double click on the line of detail shown with no effect. Right clicking on this also only shows a View or Compare option – the latter greyed out. Only by going back to the already selected Object and double clicking on that was the correct Edit mode of Studio opening.

Thanks and I'll now get back to learning more about BluePrism.

Kind regards,

David

Thanks David, and thanks for your feedback.

I'm assuming you are working through Foundation Training through the Blue Prism University?

Best regards,

Hi Carl,

Yes I've walked through the Foundation Training and am now tackling the Labs to gain some knowledge of the BluePrism solution.
