cron in the scheduler?

Scheduler is extremely lacking in sophistication. Having to put 25 separate entries into scheduler to accommodate the schedule to run one process that runs around 6 times per day with variances on certain days of the week. With a cron like capability this could be accomplished in two entries. What are the alternatives to using the "built in" scheduler?

A good suggestion.  In an ideal world the road-mapped Active Queues development would be done which could superceed the need for schedular with intelligent work distribution, without that development maybe a TAP program to integrate with other scheduling toolset might be an idea
