There are times when work can get stuck in a process and either be locked to SYSTEM or just plain be stuck.  If this occurs, the work has to be manually aborted via a SQL update to the "state" in the WU8 DB table.  This either has to be done by a DBA on a non-hosted environment or by our hosting group via a hosting ticket if they are hosted.  This will then allow the work object to be aborted so it will show in the Process Monitor Aborted tab to be resumed.  It would be nice if the client had an admin type tool to be able to manually abort a work object without having to update at the DB level or open a ticket with hosting to have it done.

Providing a secured interface to manually abort one or more items that are Active but locked to SYSTEM and/or Active and "Stuck" would be a powerful enhancement to Process Monitor functionality.

Voting and comments supporting impact and usage are welcome to support future prioritization in a release.  Thank you!

Another good purpose for this would be if a work object would get stuck in an infinite loop causing system issues, the client would have the ability to manually abort that work to stop the looping.

Allowing clients to manually abort stuck work would reduce hosting DBA engagement for SQL update support, and likely enhance the overall client experience.

Providing a mechanism for clients to be able to determine if an item should be aborted, and then provide a method systematically to abort the item(s) would be beneficial to resources so we can focus on more complex tasks.  As a measure of the impact for hosting during the first 8 days of August the hosting database team received 60+ new ServiceNow ticket requests to abort  items for hosted clients.

I had another scenario come up today with a client where they were asking if there was a way to pause just a single work object within chorus to be able to move from one queue to another.  If they had the ability to manually abort work objects themsevles, then they could could help with this type of scenario.  Right now, you can only pause everything with the process montior

To give more detail, here is what the client opened the ticket asking:

"I was wondering if there was a way to pause just a singular work object within AWD? When we have to move an object from one queue to another, we have to use the monitor -> process -> Active and then click global pause button on the process, then quickly resume all the objects that we are not moving.

Is there an easier way to do this so we don't affect all the ones we are not trying to move? Just pause the one we are trying to move."
