Employee Diaries - #2 Deeper into the BluePrism Sea

Hello again!

I have now been with Blue Prism for 3 months and I have just passed my probation period!

The time has absolutely flown by and there is so much to catch you all up on so I'll do my best to cover everything that has happened these past couple of months.

I have now been involved in close to 10 automations with the build, giving help and testing them before release. It has been a big increase since the first month and I love it. I have also built 2 processes with minimal help and led a handful of discovery sessions with other sectors in the business.

Outside of automation I have been given the responsibility of Scrum Master. For people unfamiliar with Agile terminology it is the role that monitors the work that will be done during the sprints (set periods of time) and tracks how it can be improved. Because of this I am now leading 2 fortnightly meetings and we are now on track to release an automation EVERY two weeks which would be incredible!

I mentioned in my last blog that I was going to EY for a meeting to discuss Smart Futures as part of a BluePrism for Good partnership. That is now well underway, I am leading the Northern front with 4 other mentors brought on, training for everyone and a week schedule for the students due to come in and get a glimpse of what BluePrism does and what automation can do for people. I'm so glad I can be a part of this again and now from a host and mentor side it will definitely be a rewarding experience, if you want to know more about Smart Futures click here.

When we started using JIRA late last year I began to make a JIRA automation and to help keep us on track and minimize JIRA admin creating the same subtasks each time. This is now in full swing as of a couple of months ago with the ability to post subtasks with tailored names, post tasks with assignees onto multiple boards, and even read statuses of sprint tasks and relate them to a parent project.

The other main project I have been working on has been our Sanction Checking project which James McClintock has written about recently here. This process checks all of our current contracts and ensures that on-one is registered on the financial sanctions list in the UK or US and if they are it will send an email to our legal department. In collaboration with Professional Services we have now created a process that will ensure we do not work with anyone that has financial sanctions imposed whilst also saving BluePrism months of work! It has been incredibly satisfying to finish this project and I can't wait to see the benefits.

The key lessons that I have learnt so far are:

  • Agile and Sprint methodology are incredibly helpful and working with JIRA using sprints has helped us as a team deliver more and deliver regularly. If you want to know more about how we use JIRA and sprint please feel free to get in touch with me.
  • Automation is incredibly exciting and it will always find a way to impress you with its ingenuity and the power it can work with. If you have not yet had a look definitely have a go at our BluePrism University training which is completely free (and an excellent time-killer for isolation) find the learning license here and the training here

I am getting more confident each day and can't wait to see what comes next, hopefully the next blog I put up I will be developer certified and have another set of automations to tell you about!

Thank for reading and see you next time,

Hi Gayathri,

Here is a link to the customer support page for installing a BluePrism License.

https://help.blueprism.com/Installation-Platform/Installation/Trial-and-Learning-Editions/1378160872/How-do-I-download-the-Blue-Prism-Trial-or-Learning-Edition.htm

For other questions around the trial license and how to use BluePrism soft ware I would recommend the Learning Community.

Hope this helps!
